A Tokaji finish complements this Glen Garioch’s maturation in Bourbon Hogsheads. Distilled in 2010, the Single Malt spent the final 18 months of its eleven-year maturation in Hungarian first-fill Tokaji wine casks. Casks numbered 2100001 to 2100004 were used for this finishing period. Murray McDavid bottled the whisky in 2022 for the Benchmark range at 46%; it is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.
This release marks Glen Garioch’s return to Murray McDavid’s range: at the time, its previous bottling from the distillery had been released 15 years earlier. Its character brings together honeyed malt, tropical fruit and floral notes, complemented by creamy vanilla and sweet oak spice.

Glen Garioch is located in Oldmeldrum in Aberdeenshire and was founded in 1797. Established by the Manson brothers, the distillery originally also included a brewery. Water shortages led to its closure in 1968. Production resumed after Stanley P Morrison took over; a spring discovered on neighbouring Coutens Farm in 1972 secured a substantially greater water supply.
Murray McDavid is the independent bottler of this whisky. The company was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin, together with Gordon Wright of Springbank Distillery. A key focus is the further maturation of already matured spirits in selected casks, particularly former wine casks. Known as Art of Maturation, this approach uses an additional maturation period to complement the existing distillery character with further cask influences. Murray McDavid sources casks from producers in various countries for this purpose.
