Half a century in a Sherry Hogshead shapes this single-cask Glen Grant. The whisky was distilled on 7 February 1966 and matured in cask 884 until it was bottled on 14 July 2016. Signatory Vintage selected it for the Rare Reserve within its Cask Strength Collection.

The cask yielded 108 numbered bottles, each containing 0.7 litres. The whisky was bottled undiluted at 54.6%, without chill filtration or added colouring. It is presented in a wooden box.

Its non-smoky character combines honeyed sweetness and tropical fruit with spicy and mentholated notes. Fresh accents remain despite the long maturation: mango and flambéed banana meet pepper and tobacco, while citrus notes shape the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Honey takes centre stage on the nose, bringing together acacia, heather and manuka honey.
• Palate: On the palate, honey and mango combine with flambéed banana, pepper and pronounced mentholated tobacco notes. Delicate pine notes, a little black tea and a hint of calvados add further accents.
• Finish: The long finish is shaped by citrus notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Grant is located in Rothes, in Scotland's Speyside region. Brothers John and James Grant founded the distillery in 1840. James “The Major” Grant took over in 1872 and added tall, slender stills and water-cooled purifiers. These features remain part of the distillery's distinctive production methods today. He also created the garden in 1886, bringing together plants and fruits he had collected on his travels.

Signatory Vintage is the independent bottler behind this edition. Its Cask Strength Collection includes Single Malts and Single Grains, most of them drawn from individual casks. They are bottled without dilution or chill filtration. Alongside the distillery name, the labels give the distillation and bottling dates, cask type, cask number and number of bottles released. This makes each selection traceable to its specific cask.
