Bourbon casks and American oak form the foundation of this fifteen-year-old Campbeltown single malt. Glen Scotia uses first-fill bourbon casks alongside American oak barrels previously used to mature whisky. A very short finish in Oloroso sherry casks complements the maturation without overshadowing the distillery’s fruity character, with its toffee notes and delicate spice.

The whisky is made from unpeated malt. Alongside its smooth richness, it offers vanilla, apricots and orange blossom, with a subtle salty note. It is bottled at 46% alcohol without chill filtration. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, citrus peel mingles with ginger biscuits and baked fruit.
• Palate: On the palate, juicy notes of apricots and fruit salad meet caramelised sugar and oak. A surprisingly dry note provides a contrast.
• Finish: Warm spice, a soft honey note and oak linger on the finish. The aftertaste is dry.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Scotia was founded in 1832 as Scotia Distillery. The distillery is located in Campbeltown on the Kintyre peninsula on Scotland’s west coast. During the 19th century, this port town became an important centre of whisky production. Glen Scotia still retains historic parts of its facilities, including the stillhouse and a traditional dunnage warehouse.

Production equipment includes an old cast-iron mash tun and a Robert Bobby mill dating from 1956. The water used for mashing comes from Crosshill Loch. The wort ferments for more than 70 hours before undergoing two slow distillations in copper pot stills. Storage facilities include dunnage, racked and palletised warehouses near Campbeltown Loch. Bottling and labelling take place at the sister distillery at Loch Lomond.
