For Sinteis Part III, The GlenAllachie married whisky from virgin French Limousin oak casks with whisky from Oloroso sherry casks. This eleven-year-old bottling was distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2026 at a cask strength of 57.4%. Before receiving the whisky, the French casks were air-dried for 15 months, medium toasted and medium charred.

The open grain of Limousin oak promotes interaction between the whisky and the wood. It contributes honey, orange peel, gentle spice and earthy nuances, while the Oloroso sherry casks add dried fruit, dark chocolate and further gentle spice. The whisky has its natural colour, is non-chill filtered and was bottled at cask strength.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, orange peel and nutmeg mingle with dried fruit, honeycomb, Maraschino cherry, mocha and crystallised brown sugar.
• Palate: The palate initially presents heather honey, spiced orange and baked apple, followed by winter truffle, muscovado sugar and cinnamon.
• Finish: Hazelnut and mocha linger in the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The GlenAllachie Distillery released Sinteis Part III as an official distillery bottling. The Sinteis Series was launched in April 2025 and explores the interplay between expressive maturation in virgin oak and traditional sherry-cask maturation. Sinteis means “synthesis” in Scottish Gaelic, and Part III is the third edition in the series.

Master Distiller Billy Walker developed the concept for the series. For Part III, his team selected French Limousin oak, whose distinctive character harmonises with the familiar Oloroso profile. Each release in the series is a distinct limited bottling.
