Bourbon-cask maturation is central to Glencadam 18 Year Old. Part of the distillery’s core range, this Single Malt combines tropical fruit and stone fruit with creamy dessert notes and baking spices. Its long, warm finish carries this fruity, spicy character through.

After 18 years of maturation, the whisky is bottled at 46%. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. This non-smoky official distillery bottling comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with a presentation tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh stone fruit and pear blossom meet dried pineapple and panna cotta. Delicate baking spices complement the fruity, creamy bouquet.
• Palate: The palate is creamy, with notes of baked peach, rice pudding, lemon cream and caramel cream. Nutmeg and cinnamon add spicy accents.
• Finish: The long, warm finish reveals poached pears, ginger biscuits and apricot Danish pastries. These impressions gradually fade into a sweet spice note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glencadam is located in Brechin in the eastern Highlands. David Scott built the distillery in 1825 on land leased from his father-in-law, George Cooper. Following its closure in 2000, Angus Dundee Distillers acquired the distillery in 2003 and resumed production that same year.

The distillery uses unpeated Scottish malted barley, which is ground in a historic Porteus mill. During mashing, the grist is mixed with progressively hotter water in three stages. The wort is then fermented with distiller’s yeast in wooden washbacks made from Oregon pine. The distillery’s general maturation practices include traditional dunnage warehouses dating from its foundation in 1825 and various types of oak cask; bourbon casks are used for the 18-year-old Glencadam.
