Special Features:

Glencadam American Oak Reserve centres on maturation exclusively in American oak ex-bourbon barrels. The Master Distiller selects casks from Kentucky for this purpose. Assembled in small batches, the whisky combines Glencadam’s soft, sweet style with orchard fruit and tropical fruit notes.

This miniature contains 0.05 litres of Highland Single Malt at 40% alcohol and is supplied in a gift tube. The whisky is not smoky and contains no added colouring. American Oak Reserve scored 98 out of 100 points at the International Wine & Spirits Competition 2022.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet vanilla and buttercream mingle with orchard fruit and golden raisins. A subtle note of Turkish delight rounds out the aromas.
• Palate: The palate opens with poached pear and apple blossom. These are followed by acacia honey, roasted chestnuts, mocha and lemon peel.
• Finish: The finish brings sweet cooked fruit, white grapes and apple crumble. These impressions gradually give way to lingering, peppery baking spice notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glencadam is located in Brechin in the eastern Highlands. The distillery was founded in 1825, when David Scott built it on land belonging to his father-in-law, George Cooper. After its closure in 2000, Angus Dundee Distillers took over the distillery in 2003 and resumed production that same year.

Glencadam uses unpeated Scottish malted barley, which is ground in a historic Porteus mill. During mashing, water is added to the grist in three stages at progressively higher temperatures. The resulting wort ferments with distiller’s yeast in Oregon pine washbacks. Following double distillation, the selected heart cut is filled into oak casks for maturation; the storage facilities include traditional dunnage warehouses dating from the founding year of 1825.
