This bottling is the Burgundy expression in Glendalough’s Single Cask Series and an Irish single grain whiskey. The whiskeys in this series initially mature for more than three years in bourbon casks charred over an open flame. This expression is then finished for around one year in French Grand Cru Burgundy casks that previously held full-bodied Pinot Noir. The whiskey is bottled at 42% with a volume of 0.7 litres.

The Burgundy cask finish gives the whiskey additional complexity and depth. Its profile combines vanilla and dark cherry with citrus, ripe berries and toasted oak. Leafy and earthy notes, leather, tannin, pepper and wood spice add structure.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is light yet rich, with vanilla and dark cherry meeting leafy notes and leather.
• Palate: On the palate, the whiskey is fruity and fresh, with citrus, ripe berries, toasted oak and earthy leaf notes, while also showing a dry character.
• Finish: The finish combines earthy notes with tannin, pepper and wood spice.

Glendalough Irish Whiskey Limited is based in Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow, while Glendalough Distillery lies in the heart of this Irish county. Wood and secondary maturation play a central role in its whiskey range: Glendalough first matures its whiskeys in American white oak and then finishes them in a second, and sometimes a third, type of cask. The Single Cask Series applies this approach to Burgundy, Madeira and Calvados casks; this expression is the French Pinot Noir variant.
