Glenfarclas 105 expresses the distillery’s spicy, sherry-led character at cask strength. Bottled at 60%, it moves from a dry opening to rapidly building spice and fruity sherry notes. This single malt comes in a 0.2-litre bottle with a presentation tube.

The whisky matures in sherry casks and is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. A little water offers a way to explore its aromatic depth at a lower drinking strength.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Apple and pear meet oak on the nose. Dark toffee adds a sweet note to the layered aroma.
• Palate: The whisky opens dry and powerful on the palate. Pronounced spice develops quickly, accompanied by sherry fruit and a hint of oak.
• Finish: The finish is remarkably smooth and rounded for its high strength. It is distinctly warming, with a subtle smoky note that lingers.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas lies in Speyside at the foot of Ben Rinnes. Its spring water comes from the mountain’s slopes. The distillery uses double distillation in directly fired pot stills. European oak casks from a family-run Spanish bodega play an important role in its cask selection; they previously held Oloroso sherry.

Glenfarclas has remained family-owned since John Grant bought the distillery together with Rechlerich farm in 1865. George S. Grant made an important decision in the late 1960s: after losing a major contract for blended whisky, he had more whisky laid down for the company’s own bottlings. This long-term approach to stockholding laid the foundations for the later releases of old vintages in the Family Casks range.
