Special Features:

Maturation in Spanish sherry casks shapes this eight-year-old Glenfarclas. The selection also includes refill sherry casks that have previously been used to mature whisky. Fruity, malty and nutty impressions mingle with sherry notes and sweet spice.

This non-smoky single malt is offered at 40% in a 0.7-litre bottle. Its colour comes from cask maturation, without added colouring. The packaging includes a dark green cylindrical tin with a cream label and red Glenfarclas lettering.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose recalls apple pie topped with flaked almonds. Cinnamon, hay, honey and raisins add further notes.
• Palate: The whisky is nutty and buttery on the palate. Grassy notes become more prominent, accompanied by a chocolate note.
• Finish: Vanilla butter toffee, raisins and red apple slices linger through the medium-length finish. It fades softly with a spicy character.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas stands at the foot of Ben Rinnes in Scotland's Speyside region. Its Gaelic name roughly means “valley of the green grass”. The distillery has belonged to the Grant family since 1865, with a connection spanning six generations.

Glenfarclas uses spring water from the slopes of Ben Rinnes and distils twice in directly fired pot stills. To source casks, John Grant travels to a family-run bodega in Spain, where he selects European oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry. Alongside direct firing, traditional low, humid dunnage warehouses are among the defining choices in the distillery's production.
