Special Features:

The miniature set offers a direct comparison of three age statements from the Glenfarclas Classic Range. It contains Glenfarclas 15 Year Old at 46%, Glenfarclas 21 Year Old at 43% and Glenfarclas 25 Year Old at 43%, each in a 0.05-litre bottle.

All three single malts were fully matured in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled without added colouring or chill filtration. The set therefore shows the sherry- and malt-led house style across increasingly long maturation periods of 15, 21 and 25 years.

Overall, the set does not belong to the smoky whisky style. Nevertheless, the individual whiskies display different subtle touches of smoke: in the 15-year-old, light smoke appears on the nose and combines with sherry and malt on the palate. In the 21-year-old, it is light and sweet on the palate and leaves a delicate trace in the finish, while in the 25-year-old it emerges in the long aftertaste.

The character of the 21-year-old also includes tropical and dried fruits, nutmeg, almond and vanilla. These broaden its sherry-led combination of citrus, fruit, nuts and dark chocolate.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, the 15-year-old whisky combines sherry with sweet malt and light smoke. In the 21-year-old, sherry and delicate citrus accents meet fruit and nuts to create an expressive bouquet. Fruit loaf, orange marmalade, dates and sherry shape the full, intense bouquet of the 25-year-old whisky, with a touch of coffee in the background.
• Palate: In the 15-year-old whisky, smoke, sherry and malt are very well balanced. Abundant spice and light, sweet smoke define the 21-year-old whisky, while the fruit gives the palate its full, rounded character. Warm sherry opens the 25-year-old whisky alongside robust, dry oak and hazelnut chocolate. Spicy gingerbread, honey and malt emerge only afterwards.
• Finish: The 15-year-old whisky ends with a long, lingering finish. Dark chocolate and a light trace of smoke accompany the smooth, lingering finish of the 21-year-old whisky. The 25-year-old whisky finishes very long, with pronounced sherry and smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas Distillery is located near Ballindalloch in Speyside, around one mile from the River Spey and at the foot of Ben Rinnes. The distillery has remained independently owned by the Grant family since John Grant acquired it in 1865.

Glenfarclas traditionally distils twice in direct-fired stills and matures its whisky in selected European Oloroso sherry casks. Its reserves of mature whisky, specifically retained for the distillery's own bottlings, enable it to release expressions at different ages, as brought together in this set.
