Special Features:

The miniature set brings together three Glenfarclas Speyside single malts in a gift box: 0.05 litres each of Glenfarclas 10 at 40%, Glenfarclas 12 at 43% and Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength at 60%. This allows a direct comparison between two age-statement bottlings and the considerably more powerful cask-strength expression.

The name Glenfarclas 105 derives from the British proof strength of the original bottling released in 1968. All three miniatures are non-chill-filtered and contain no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Glenfarclas 10 combines apples and pears with pastries, malt and gentle sherry sweetness. As it warms, honey, vanilla and pear sweets emerge, complemented by delicate spices. Glenfarclas 12 has a fresh, light aroma of ripe fruit, fruitcake and sherry. Spiced sweetness and a hint of succulent oak accompany the fruit. Glenfarclas 105 shows apple and pear alongside blackberry and blackcurrant sweets, toast, vanilla, spicy oak, dark toffee and biscuit-like malt.
• Palate: Glenfarclas 10 is light, combining malt and sherry sweetness with dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves. Pastries, pear tart and toffee apple complement its fruity, creamy profile. Glenfarclas 12 is full-bodied, powerful, deep and fruity. Sherried fruit, sweet notes and rich oak carry the flavour. Glenfarclas 105 opens dry and powerful. Bold spices quickly develop alongside oak and sherried fruit, while honey, praline and dried fruit complement the full-bodied flavour. A little water brings the honey, pear and Christmas spices more clearly to the fore.
• Finish: Glenfarclas 10 finishes long, smooth and spicy, accompanied by cask spice and austere oak. Glenfarclas 12 has a long, aromatic finish with lingering spice. Glenfarclas 105 finishes long and warming with lingering spice, oak and fruit. Despite its strength, the finish is smooth and rounded. A fine, lingering trace of smoke remains as a nuance; nevertheless, the set’s overall style is not smoky.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfarclas has been independently owned by the Grant family since 1865. The distillery traditionally double-distils in direct-fired stills and selects European oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry. The three whiskies in the set are official Glenfarclas bottlings and present the distillery’s sherry-influenced style through two age-statement expressions and a cask-strength bottling without an age statement.
