Special Features:

Collection I contains 0.2 litres each of Glenfarclas 10 at 40%, Glenfarclas 12 at 43% and Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength at 60%. The set thus pairs two age-stated official bottlings with the considerably more powerful cask-strength 105, for a total volume of 0.6 litres.

All three Speyside single malts were matured in Oloroso sherry casks. They were bottled without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Glenfarclas 10 combines sweet sherry notes with malt and subtle spice; honey, vanilla and pear emerge as it warms. Glenfarclas 12 has a fresh, light aroma of sherry fruit, spicy sweetness and a touch of juicy oak. In Glenfarclas 105, oak, apple and pear meet dark toffee, accompanied by berries and vanilla.
• Palate: Glenfarclas 10 feels light on the palate, combining malt with sherry sweetness, dried fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves. Glenfarclas 12 offers a full-bodied combination of sherry fruit, oak and sweet notes. Glenfarclas 105 opens dry and powerful. Rich spice develops alongside oak and sherry fruit, complemented by honey, praline and dried fruit.
• Finish: Glenfarclas 10 finishes long, smooth and spicy. In Glenfarclas 12, the spice carries through to a long, aromatic finish. Despite its strength, Glenfarclas 105 finishes rounded and warming, with lingering spice. Oak, fruit and smoke remain present for a long time.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1836, Glenfarclas Distillery is located in Speyside near the River Spey and at the foot of Ben Rinnes, whose slopes provide its water. John Grant acquired the distillery in 1865; it has remained independently owned by the Grant family ever since. J. & G. Grant is responsible for the distillery and its official bottlings.

Its production profile includes particularly large stills, which the distillery describes as among the largest in Speyside. Glenfarclas’s strong association with Oloroso sherry casks is reflected in Collection I, as all three whiskies in the set were matured in them.
