This Glenrothes was distilled on 30 November 2011 and matured for 14 years entirely in Bourbon Hogshead C26146. Claxton's selected the single cask for its Warehouse No.1 range and bottled 375 bottles at a cask strength of 57.8%. The whisky has its natural colour and is non-chill-filtered.

Vanilla, honey and toffee mingle with fig and orange peel. Apple and orange emerge on the palate, accompanied by subtle maltiness and oak spice. In the long, fruity-sweet finish, white pepper and soft oak provide a spicy counterpoint.

• Nose: The nose combines creamy vanilla, honey and toffee with ripe figs and delicate orange peel; a subtle touch of cinnamon and oak adds further depth.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet toffee and juicy apple meet vibrant orange, while delicate oak spice rounds out the full-bodied impression.
• Finish: The finish lingers: honey and toffee carry the remaining orange, while a nuance of white pepper and soft oak shapes the fruity, spicy conclusion.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Glenrothes has operated in Rothes, in the heart of Speyside, since 1879. The distillery uses slow distillation in tall stills with bulges in their necks that maximise reflux. This produces a complex, fruit-forward spirit that matures in both sherry and bourbon casks.

Claxton's is an independent bottler with a bonded warehouse on the Dalswinton Estate in Dumfries and Galloway. Historic 19th-century stone buildings and granaries there have been converted into traditional dunnage warehouses and modern racked warehouses. Warehouse No.1 is part of the core collection and highlights individually selected casks, each with its own spirit, cask and flavour character.
