Special features: This limited single cask bottling is presented in only 326 copies. The complete maturation took place in an Oloroso sherry cask (#6364), which gives the whisky an intense dark fruit and sherry note. The Glenrothes was bottled at a robust 57.5% ABV, unfiltered and without the addition of coloring, to preserve the character of the cask unadulterated.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Notes of ripe orange, vanilla, and spicy hints of a cigar box
Palate: Full-bodied with flavors of orange marmalade, sherry fruits, and fine wood notes
Finish: Long-lasting, with sweet sherry tones and a hint of oak
Distillery/Bottler: Glenrothes is produced in the Speyside region of Scotland, an area known for its elegant and fruit-forward single malts. The distillery itself values traditional production methods and a particularly long maturation in sherry casks. The Whisky Cellar, based in Edinburgh, is an independent bottler that carefully brings selected single casks to market with great passion and experience. Supported by a team of professional tasters, this results in characterful whiskies with a special focus on quality and refinement.
