The Oloroso finish in the small Octave cask numbered 4941099 shapes this ten-year-old Speyside single-cask bottling. Glenrothes distilled the whisky on 20 December 2013, and Duncan Taylor bottled it on 25 October 2024. The cask yielded 96 bottles.

The whisky was bottled at 53.5% in 0.7-litre bottles. It was neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Bright fruit and vanilla meet pronounced sherry, dark fruit notes, caramel, a creamy texture and spicy oak.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, apple and pear combine with juicy peach, underpinned by delicate vanilla and gentle woody notes.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is powerful and spicy; sherry, dark fruit and caramel combine with a creamy texture.
• Finish: The finish is long and balanced, with spicy oak and lingering sherry defining the aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Glenrothes Distillery is located in Rothes in Speyside and was founded in 1879. Its original aim was to create a lighter, more elegant spirit; in this bottling, the distillery's fruity character provides the foundation for the powerful influence of the Oloroso finish.

As the independent bottler, Duncan Taylor handled the finish and bottling. The company selects small casks for its The Octave series. Their internal wood surface area is greater in relation to the volume of liquid than in conventional casks, potentially intensifying contact with the wood and thereby the flavour, character and complexity.
