Special Features:

Darroze sees twenty years as a point of balance between power and maturity. The youngest Armagnac in this blend has reached that age; the alcohol has already mellowed, the tannins grow finer and the aromas become more defined. Yet the cuvée remains lively rather than heavy. It combines Armagnacs made from Baco and Ugni Blanc grapes and is offered at 43% in a bottle containing 0.7 litres, with gift packaging.

Supple tannins complement the fruity, spicy character. The Armagnac is neither chill-filtered nor treated with added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines fruity toffee and the sweetness of dried papaya with wax polish and freshly cut leather. A hint of marzipan and blanched almonds complete the aromas.
• Palate: Bold fruit notes initially take centre stage on the palate: sweet apple, both cooked and freshly sliced, alongside sultanas and raisins. Behind them lie gentle spices, floral nuances, wax polish and a little dark chocolate.
• Finish: Dry, ground spices stand out clearly on the finish: ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and mace together recall garam masala. Fruit then returns and lingers.

Distillery/Bottler:

Les Grands Assemblages is Darroze's carefully composed range, designed to maintain a recognisable style across different bottlings. The house combines Armagnacs from different terroirs, vintages and styles. These complementary spirits create a consistent flavour profile and balance.

In the late 1960s, Francis Darroze began selecting distinctive spirits during visits to Bas-Armagnac, then ageing and bottling them. His father Jean, a restaurateur in Villeneuve-de-Marsan, had introduced him to the wines and spirits of Gascony. Today, Marc Darroze runs the house. Around thirty estates contribute to the selection; the Armagnacs mature in the cellars at Roquefort and Labastide d'Armagnac.
