For this sixty-year-old decanter, Darroze selects Baco Armagnacs that have retained their character after six decades of ageing. The age statement refers to the youngest component of the blend. Les Grands Assemblages brings together Armagnacs from different terroirs, vintages and styles whose qualities complement one another when blended. This release contains 0.7 litres at 42% and is presented in a decanter with gift packaging.

The mature aromatic profile includes sandalwood, Muscat grapes and candied fruit, alongside rancio and old leather. Spicy impressions and toasted almonds complement this character, with delicate chocolate and roasted notes adding further detail.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Milk caramel and dried plums stand out strongly on the nose. Delicate hints of beeswax and toasted bread complement the bouquet.
• Palate: Candied fruit combines with spices on the palate. The texture is rounded and full.
• Finish: Rancio stands out clearly on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

The family house of Darroze grew out of Francis Darroze’s search for Armagnacs from small estates in Bas-Armagnac, which he selected, aged further and bottled from the late 1960s onwards. Today, Marc Darroze heads the house. The selected eaux-de-vie age in the cellars of Roquefort and Labastide-d’Armagnac. For Les Grands Assemblages, Darroze selects, blends and bottles Armagnacs of different origins and ages.

At the time of its 50th anniversary in 2024, Darroze worked with around 30 estates and distilled annually at about 15 of them. This collaboration therefore extends beyond selecting already aged stocks to include distillation on the estates and subsequent ageing at the house.
