Special Features:

This Grappa di Brunello combines Sangiovese pomace with one year of maturation in medium-toasted oak. It belongs to the Tenuta La Fuga range and bears the name Le due Sorelle. Distillation takes place in batches in steam-heated copper stills. The grappa is amber in colour and is bottled at 43% alcohol in bottles containing 0.5 litres.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe fruit and cocoa come together on the nose. Intense notes of prunes, black cherries and dried figs are joined by vanilla, liquorice, hazelnut and honey. Alcoholic pungency is barely perceptible on the nose.
• Palate: On the palate, the grappa is intense, soft and rounded, with a balanced sweet note. The initial alcoholic bite quickly subsides.
• Finish: Prunes, honey, dried figs and hazelnut remain present in the lingering finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tenuta La Fuga lies near Camigliano, southwest of Montalcino, and has belonged to the Folonari family since 2001. With 9.8 hectares of vineyards and around two hectares of olive groves, it is the smallest of their wine estates. Sangiovese Grosso, also known as Brunello in Montalcino, grows here. The grapes are harvested by hand and then carefully sorted; the estate uses wooden and stainless-steel fermentation vessels for winemaking. Alongside Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, its range also includes this aged grappa.

Distillerie Berta distils Grappa di Brunello Le Due Sorelle. This bottling thus brings together Sangiovese pomace from the Tuscan wine estate and the work of a specialist grappa distillery.
