Green Spot

Special features: Green Spot is a Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, traditionally produced at the Midleton Distillery. The liquid result comes from blends of whiskeys aged seven to ten years and matures in bourbon and sherry casks. The brand traces back to the family business Mitchell & Son, which has selected casks with distillates from the Jameson and Midleton Distillery into individual whiskeys since 1887, using differently colored “spots” as identification. Despite its finesse, the Green Spot is chilled filtered at 40% vol. and contains coloring. The bottling is done in a decorative tube.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Fresh green apple notes supported by fine baking spices and light barley
  • Palate: Soft with hints of vanilla, toasted oak, and a touch of cinnamon
  • Finish: Moderately long, warm with wood notes and subtle spice nuances

Distillery/Bottler: The Midleton Distillery in Ireland is one of the most renowned distilleries in the country and unites several prestigious brands under its roof. Mitchell & Son, a traditional delicatessen from Dublin, shaped the tradition of labeling individual cask bottlings with color markings (“spots”) through its decades-long activity as a “bonder.” This heritage is carried by the Green Spot to this day – as an expression of the Irish Pot Still whiskey art, based on the combination of malted and unmalted barley.
