For this Héritage Cognac, Grosperrin selected stock from a small wine estate in Verrières. The now-retired winegrower considered it his finest Cognac and reserved the last cask from this harvest for Grosperrin for years. It was stored in a small cellar right beside the family kitchen.

The Cognac from Lot 932 was bottled in November 2021 at 54.8%, without reducing its alcohol content. It contains no added colouring and is not chill-filtered. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in simple cardboard gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose combines balsamic notes with cinnamon and preserved prunes. Delicate hints of fine woods and roses add further nuances.
• Palate: The Cognac feels silky and full-bodied on the palate. Gentle spices and cooked fruit come together in a supple flavour profile.
• Finish: The long, lingering finish has a light tannic structure.

Distillery/Bottler:

Grosperrin is a Cognac merchant house that selects casks and oversees maturation. Working as a rural broker from 1992, Jean Grosperrin became acquainted with many small producers and the Cognac stocks they had held back. In 1999, he bought old casks whose contents the family bottled separately rather than blending them into large assemblages. His son Guilhem has run the company since 2004, combining the selection of old family stocks with the continued supervision of their maturation.

Since 2012, the house's cellars have occupied 19th-century buildings beside the Charente in Saintes. When selecting casks, Grosperrin favours low-tannin wood and avoids heavy toasting, so that strong toasted aromas do not overshadow the spirit's fruit and origin. Before bottling, it undergoes only light filtration at ambient temperature.
