Special Features:

The Journeyman is an eight-year-old Tasmanian single malt with a two-stage maturation. The whisky is initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks, followed by a longer finishing period in old Australian Tawny casks. Its character combines spicy ginger biscuits and fruit bread with dark fruit, toffee, chocolate, dates and oak.

The whisky takes its name from the distillery's Journeyman programme. Whisky makers and industry professionals from around the world each spend six months on site, working with the team and exchanging knowledge, methods and perspectives.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ginger biscuits and baking spices mingle with buttery fruit bread, while tobacco and sandalwood add subtle accents.
• Palate: On the palate, red apples meet toffee, while syrup-sweet plums combine with dark chocolate and Medjool dates. Oak tannins balance the underlying dark-fruit character.
• Finish: The balanced warmth continues into the finish and lingers pleasantly.

Distillery/Bottler:

Hellyers Road Distillery is located in Havenview in north-western Tasmania. It emerged in 1997 from a dairy cooperative established in 1956 by family-run dairy farms; descendants of these families still hold a majority interest in the distillery. Hellyers Road is considered Australia's oldest whisky distillery still in operation. It produces The Journeyman itself and releases it as an official distillery bottling.
