Distillery/Bottler: The Hercynian Distilling Co., also known as Hammerschmiede, is a traditional distillery in the Harz region that has been producing high-quality spirits since 1985. Since 2002, it has been producing single malt whisky under the Elsburn brand, making it one of the oldest mainland European whisky distilleries. The distillery places great emphasis on artisanal production and uses carefully selected casks for its whiskies, particularly from wine, sherry, and port casks.
