Special Features:

A high proportion of the whisky used for Highland Park 18 Year Old comes from first-fill sherry-seasoned European oak casks. The cask selection also includes sherry-seasoned American oak and refill casks.

Its full-bodied character combines baked cherries, salted honeycomb, dark chocolate and orange zest with aromatic heather peat smoke. The smoke accompanies the fruity, sweet and spicy profile without overpowering it.

This 18-year-old Single Malt is an official distillery bottling at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle. It is chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with rich fruit and caramelised sweetness.
• Palate: On the palate, orange zest, dark chocolate and aromatic smoke from Orkney heather peat come together in balance. Sultanas and raisins, along with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, complement the full-bodied character.
• Finish: The finish is long, combining sweetness with spice before fading with a lightly nutty note.

Distillery/Bottler:

The Highland Park Distillery on Orkney produces and bottles the 18 Year Old. Some of the barley is floor-malted on site and then dried over heather peat from Hobbister Moor. For maturation, Highland Park commissions custom-made European and American oak casks, which are air-dried and seasoned with sherry before being filled with spirit. The 18 Year Old uses a high proportion of first-fill sherry-seasoned European oak casks, complemented by sherry-seasoned American oak and refill casks.
