Inchmurrin (Loch Lomond) 10 yo Whiskeyheroes: In the Deep

Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 57.1% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No

Special Features:

«In the Deep» is a single-cask bottling in the fruit-forward Inchmurrin style of Loch Lomond Distillery. The whisky matured for ten years in a first-fill bourbon barrel. Brave New Spirits selected cask 69 for its comic-inspired The WhiskyHeroes series; this edition for Germany yielded 215 bottles.

The whisky was bottled at cask strength of 57.1% ABV, without colouring or chill filtration. Its pastry-like and fruity character brings together banana and fruitcake with vanilla, coconut, raisins and toasted almonds; a little liquorice adds a spicy accent.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose offers ripe banana and dark fruit alongside fresh pastry and a touch of liquorice. Bourbon vanilla, almond cream and desiccated coconut round out the aroma.
• Palate: The whisky feels full and soft on the palate. Banana cake, fruitcake on shortcrust pastry and raisins mingle with toasted almonds; a little liquorice and gentle spice complement the fruit.
• Finish: The medium-length finish feels rich, with banana cake and toasted almonds lingering alongside sweet, fruity notes.

Distillery/Bottler:

Loch Lomond Distillery produces Inchmurrin in the Scottish Highlands. To create its different malt styles, the distillery uses both traditional swan-neck and straight-neck stills and varies the cut points during distillation. Its long fermentation encourages a fruity underlying character; Inchmurrin represents an especially fruit-forward side of the distillery. An on-site cooperage repairs and chars casks before they are reused.

Founded in 2020, Brave New Spirits is an independent bottler and blender with a warehouse in Glasgow. The WhiskyHeroes series includes single-cask and small-batch releases, with labels inspired by vintage adventure comics. For «In the Deep», the company selected cask 69 and bottled the whisky from it.
