Special Features:

A saffron infusion gives Indian Summer its golden-yellow colour and warm, spicy character. The saffron is added after distillation, contributing both its aroma and its colour to the spirit.

Alongside saffron, the recipe includes juniper berries, coriander seeds, angelica, almonds, cassia, lemon and orange peel, liquorice root and orris root. The gin is bottled at 46% alcohol in a bottle containing 0.7 litres.

The flavour also includes cinnamon bark and juniper with a pine note. The juniper becomes particularly prominent on the mid to late palate.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is gentle and balanced. Orange, lemon peel, coriander and saffron bring together citrus and spicy impressions.
• Palate: The gin is smooth and sweet on the palate. Saffron brings together spicy orange peel, coriander, pink pepper and lemon zest.
• Finish: The finish is rich and warming.

Distillery/Bottler:

Indian Summer comes from Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Limited, based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire. The company began in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask broker and trading business. From the 1960s onwards, Abe Rosenberg built up an extensive collection of single malt and single grain whiskies that provided the foundation for its later independent bottlings.

Euan Shand took over Duncan Taylor in 2002 and also developed the recipe for Indian Summer. With this gin, the company, best known for its whisky bottlings, broadens its range with a combination of classic gin botanicals and saffron.
