Isle of Raasay Oak Species Maturation Series 4 x 0.05l Tasting Pack

Special features: This tasting pack offers the opportunity to discover the influences of different oak species on the maturation of a single malt. The four miniatures were each matured in barrels made from different oak species—including rare Colombian Quercus humboldtii, European Quercus petraea and Quercus robur, and North American Quercus muehlenbergii—and thus present a multifaceted variety of flavors.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Crème brûlée and heather smoke (Quercus humboldtii), spicy wood notes and smoke (Quercus petraea), warm fruit notes and caramel (Quercus robur), dark fruits and smoky bacon (Quercus muehlenbergii)
  • Palate: Complex aroma variety influenced by the respective oak species, from piquant and spicy to lush and fruity
  • Finish: Persistent spice with nuances of smoke and fruit, depending on the barrel wood

Distillery/Bottler: The Isle of Raasay Distillery, located on the island of the same name off the coast of Scotland, combines traditional production methods with innovative approaches. The distillery places particular emphasis on researching cask maturation and its influence on whisky character, which is impressively reflected in the Oak Species Maturation Series Tasting Pack.
