J.Bally Rhum Vieux Agricole Cuvee Art Deco
Special features: This limited edition honors the company founder Jacques Bally and is presented in a distinctive bottle in Art Deco style. The rum is a blend of three vintages: 1998 (18 years in French oak barrels), 2003 (15 years in French oak barrels), and 2007 (12 years in American oak barrels). The distillation took place at the Saint James Distillery, and only 3,000 bottles were filled.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Intense aromas of dried fruits, wood, and a pleasant sweetness, accompanied by nutty and spicy nuances.
- Palate: Full-bodied and velvety with flavors of chocolate, pralines, and sugarcane, followed by spicy and citrus notes as well as a hint of roasted wood and cocoa.
- Finish: Long and complex with lingering aromas of cocoa and a subtle wood note.
Distillery/Bottler: The J. Bally Distillery, founded by Jacques Bally in 1924, is one of the oldest on Martinique. It is known for producing Rhum Agricole from sugarcane juice and using oak barrels for aging, which gives the rums depth and complexity. The characteristic pyramid-shaped bottle was introduced in the 1930s and is a trademark of the brand.
