Special Features:

Four decades of maturation have shaped this Jamaican molasses rum bearing the marque MRJB. It combines pot-still and column-still distillates produced in July 1982. In July 2022, Rum Artesanal bottled the rum from single cask number 17, yielding just 236 bottles.

The bottling strength of 45.1% is the actual strength reached in the cask: no water was added to reduce the rum before bottling. Its comparatively moderate strength is therefore not the result of subsequent dilution. The rum is bottled without colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Mango and apple appear first, with a little banana. Volatile hints and subtle tobacco notes follow. With some time in the glass, the bouquet opens further, developing nutty notes alongside wood and leather.
• Palate: On the palate, the rum combines layered fruit and wood notes with a delicate ester character. Further sips reveal additional aromatic facets.
• Finish: The finish is spicy and tannic. It recalls toast with molasses and very dark cocoa, accompanied by a coffee note and fruity, tart hints.

Distillery/Bottler:

Rum Artesanal is the independent rum bottling brand of Heinz Eggert GmbH, based in Bad Bevensen. Its range includes selected single-cask bottlings, blends and a more accessible core range. The single-cask archive covers different countries of origin and distillation methods, from Jamaican pot-still rums to spirits distilled in wooden stills in Guyana.

Heinz Eggert founded the company in Bad Bevensen in 1948. Today, Ute and Arne Eggert run the family business in its third generation. Alongside its own speciality spirits, the company is also committed to training the next generation of distillers.
