Johnnie Walker created Ice Chalet with ski-fashion brand Perfect Moment as a limited Blue Label edition. Once the bottle is removed, the deep-blue quilted sleeve can be turned inside out and worn as a crossbody bag. Both its design and the whisky evoke the alpine “Blue Hour” after a day on the slopes and the cold of Scottish winters.

Master Blender Emma Walker composed the blend using whiskies from northern and high-altitude Scottish distilleries, including Dalwhinnie, Clynelish and Brora. For Ice Chalet, only around one in 10,000 casks assessed meets the selection criteria. Vanilla, spiced apple and clove meet gentle smoke. The bottle contains 0.7 litres of whisky at 43% alcohol.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, creamy vanilla, spiced apples and plums mingle with gentle wood spice.
• Palate: On the palate, apples and blueberries appear alongside other ripe fruit notes, honey and vanilla. Anise, ginger and menthol add to the spice, soft wood and gentle smoke. The texture is soft and smooth.
• Finish: Mild fruity spice and gentle smoke linger on the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

John Walker’s grocery shop became the starting point for the brand in 1820. He began experimenting with blending whiskies; his son Alexander later introduced the slanted label. Today, Johnnie Walker’s blending team, led by Master Blender Emma Walker, brings together selected Scottish whiskies for editions such as Ice Chalet. Johnnie Walker is part of Diageo’s brand portfolio.
