Founded in 1810, the Isle of Jura Distillery stands in Craighouse on the east coast of the Isle of Jura, close to the sea and a freshwater spring. After closing in 1901, the present distillery was rebuilt between 1960 and 1963. Its exceptionally tall copper stills were designed to produce a lighter, fruitier new make spirit.
James Eadie is an independent bottler specialising in cask finishes, single-cask releases and small batches. Rupert Patrick, a great-great-grandson of the historic brewer and blender James Eadie, revived the family name for the present-day company. For this release, James Eadie gave the Jura an eleven-month finish in a first-fill European oak Oloroso sherry hogshead and bottled the whisky in 2025.
