Special Features:

Maturation in American oak adds delicate vanilla and caramel notes to this reposado’s intense agave character. KAH uses only blue Weber agave and rests the tequila in casks for more than two months. Its full body and thick texture are defining features of this bottling at 40% alcohol.

The yellow skull-shaped bottle, with red and black decorations and a red closure, draws on the imagery of Día de los Muertos. The reposado’s devil motif is inspired by celebrations in parts of Peru, where tequila is poured onto the ground as an offering during a ritual dance. The name KAH means life in the ancient Mayan language.

Served neat at room temperature, it offers a chance to explore the interplay of agave and cask notes. The reposado also lends itself to cocktails; mango, basil and lime, for example, make a fruity, herbal Margarita.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh agave and vanilla mingle with subtle oak notes and a hint of cinnamon.
• Palate: The tequila is smooth and rounded on the palate. Sweet agave, caramel and toasted wood meet spicy notes.
• Finish: The medium-length finish is warming, leaving a balanced, sweet and spicy aftertaste.

Distillery/Bottler:

KAH is produced at Fabrica de Tequilas Finos in the town of Tequila, in the Mexican state of Jalisco, at the foot of the Tequila volcano. The distillery was founded in 2000. Master Distiller Arturo Fuentes was part of the team that developed KAH.

Production uses the sugar-rich hearts of the agave plants. Once cooked, the agave hearts are crushed to extract their juice. Yeast is added, and the juice ferments for several days in stainless steel tanks. The fermented liquid is then distilled twice. For the reposado, this is followed by cask maturation.
