Special Features:

The first whisky in the Distillery Select range, Distillery Select No. 1 is defined by its intended flavour rather than its origin in a single cask. Kavalan selects previously used refill casks and combines their whiskies to create a fruit-forward single malt. Its recipe remained unchanged when the bottling joined the newly named range in 2020.

Tropical fruit, floral notes and wood shape its aroma, while creamy sweetness and malt emerge on the palate. When the whisky became No. 1, the bottle received a new look with a marking on the front. Its stepped shape echoes the silhouette of Taipei 101.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe tropical fruit and floral notes mingle with warm vanilla and wood.
• Palate: The whisky feels smooth and full on the palate. Butter, butterscotch, creamy toffee, vanilla and malt lend it sweet, layered accents.
• Finish: The finish lingers with sweetness and warmth. Vanilla and orange oil are joined by hints of sandalwood, five-spice blend and black tea.

Distillery/Bottler:

Part of the King Car Group, Kavalan Distillery has produced Taiwanese single malt in Yilan since 2005. It uses meltwater from Snow Mountain. Heat and high humidity affect cask maturation at the site; the distillery’s position between the sea and the mountains also forms part of the conditions in which its whisky is made.
