Special Features:

This peated release from the Itinéraires collection matured for nine years in refill single cask R160912011A. Distilled in 2016, the whisky was bottled in 2025 at cask strength at 57.1%. The cask yielded 118 bottles; the whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

The peated malt used has a phenol content of approximately 10 ppm. Its restrained smokiness complements the fruit and spice rather than obscuring them. Mirabelle plum, greengage, malt, salt, hay, menthol, Tiger Balm, earth, mineral and terpenic notes, acacia and lime blossom honey, and savory herb broaden the overall sensory picture.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is deep and generously fruity. Vanilla, plum, candied lemon and grapefruit meet a little peat smoke and tobacco. Oily, slightly rubbery peat is accompanied by pepper, clove, peppermint, a little cinnamon and camphor.
• Palate: On the palate, the whisky is flavourful and elegant. Light, ashy peat lingers; leather, camphor, orange and lemon peel contrast with banana, pineapple, ginger, mint and cigar smoke.
• Finish: The finish is long. Lemon peel, pineapple and light peat come together with honey, vanilla and rosemary.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 2005 in Taiwan’s Yilan County, Kavalan Distillery belongs to the King Car Group. The warm, humid subtropical climate accelerates the interaction between whisky and cask. Water from the Snow Mountain range, along with sea and mountain winds, shapes the distillery’s location. The distillery bottled this single malt for La Maison du Whisky as part of its Itinéraires selection.
