Special Features:

The blue label is part of the Machir Bay packaging used since February 2025. The established cask composition remains 90% ex-bourbon and 10% Oloroso sherry casks. Within the sherry component, Kilchoman now uses more active casks, which give the whisky greater depth and a slightly darker natural colour. It continues to be bottled at 46%, without colouring or chill filtration.

Machir Bay was introduced in 2012 and is a permanent part of Kilchoman’s core range. The whisky is named after Machir Bay, a sandy beach on Islay that stretches for almost two kilometres. Malt peated to 50 ppm shapes its clear maritime smoke profile, balanced by fruity sweetness and spicy sherry notes.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, lemon zest and vanilla meet peach, pear, floral freshness and spices. Coastal notes and distinct peat smoke follow.
• Palate: The whisky has an oily texture on the palate. Tropical fruit, sultanas, honey and butterscotch combine with powerful smoke, sweet malt and a light salinity.
• Finish: The finish is long and maritime. Black pepper, sea salt, citrus sweetness and sherry fruit accompany the maritime peat smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

Kilchoman Distillery was founded on Islay in 2005 by Anthony and Kathy Wills. As a farm distillery, Kilchoman grows some of the barley it uses and traditionally malts this portion on site. Kilchoman produces Machir Bay on Islay, where the whisky also matures entirely. For this distillery bottling, Kilchoman combines matured whisky from ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks and bottles it at the distillery.
