Special features: This second edition of Killowen Rum & Raisin is a carefully selected blend of casks: Killowen Dark Rum casks and Pedro Ximénez Sherry Casks. The rum was first aged in ex-bourbon barrels before being further aged in a 120-liter sherry cask with a five-year-old single malt whiskey from a neighboring distillery in County Louth. With 660 bottles, Batch 2 is somewhat larger than the first release, yet the consistently high quality remains intact despite its young age.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Fresh apple juice, subtle molasses, warm hints of Christmas pudding
- Palate: Green apple with brown sugar, dried fruits, rum notes, coconut and vanilla
- Finish: Long-lasting with candied apple and spicy nuances
