Finishing in former Jamaican rum casks from Worthy Park adds another dimension to this grape spirit from Gascony. Distilled in 2002 at Domaine de Pouy in the limestone-rich Ténarèze, it combines vinous fruitiness with tropical impressions gained during the finishing period.

This edition celebrates L'Encantada's tenth anniversary. The spirit was bottled without dilution at 56.8% in 0.5-litre bottles. It is unfiltered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with fruity and floral impressions alongside banana and strawberry sweets. There are also vinous notes, dried fruit and almonds. With aeration, the well-integrated wood becomes more apparent, complemented by apple and banana compote.
• Palate: The palate reveals delicate, oxidative pear notes, toasted spices, dried fruit, quince paste and guava jam. The vinous character continues with grapes and a hint of grape pomace, accompanied by vegetal and cooked-fruit notes.
• Finish: Dried fruit and almond paste bring a pastry-like quality to the finish. A subtle hint of lychee adds another nuance.

Distillery/Bottler:

L'Encantada was founded by friends in 2011 in Vic-Fezensac, in the Gers department. As an independent merchant, maturer and bottler, the house works with small producers across Gascony, including estates that stopped distilling long ago. Cellar master Vincent searches their cellars for suitable vintages and casks, deciding which spirits should continue ageing and which might benefit from maturation in a different cask.

The selected spirits are cared for and bottled in L'Encantada's own cellar in Vic-Fezensac. The house retains their natural cask strength, with no filtration or additions of water, sugar or caramel. Bottling relies on gravity: the spirit flows from an elevated glass vessel to the filling equipment.
