Special Features:

The 0.05-litre miniature of Blender 22 is offered at 40%, like the 0.7-litre bottling. As a Single Blended Whisky, it combines malt and grain whisky made at the same Laizhou distillery.

The name 22 refers to two distillations in traditional pot stills and two maturation stages, for which the whisky is transferred to bourbon casks. It is matured entirely in oak casks.

Malted biscuits, shortbread, toasted grain, stone fruit, berries and lemon peel broaden the fruity, creamy character with earthy, grassy and subtly bitter accents. Vanilla, cinnamon and light oak complete the profile.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Green apple and crisp pear open on the nose. Caramel, honey and cream follow, while cedarwood forms a subtle backdrop.
• Palate: The whisky is sweet and silky on the palate. Honey and light caramel combine with fresh apple juice and a delicate citrus accent.
• Finish: The finish is elegant, rich and lingering. A subtle bitterness adds a restrained, delicately bitter counterpoint.

Distillery/Bottler:

Laizhou Distillery is located in Sichuan Province and belongs to the spirits business of Shanghai Bairun Investment Holding Group. Its pot stills and column stills enable it to make both malt and grain whisky at the same distillery. Laizhou thus produces both components of Blender 22 and releases the whisky as an original bottling.

The distillery project began in 2019. Laizhou commenced operations and filled its first cask in 2021, before launching its first whiskies in 2024. Laizhou also researches the use of Chinese Mongolian oak and has developed its own cask standard for this purpose.
