Special Features:

The third edition of Lakeview Single Estate Whiskey is a seven-year-old Single Pot Still Irish whiskey. Its barley comes from Lakeview Estate; half of it is malted in small batches and processed together with unmalted barley. This release thus combines the traditional pot still style made from malted and unmalted barley with a clearly defined origin on the family estate.

The whiskey matures in Lakeview Estate’s approximately 300-year-old warehouse on Lough Leane near Killarney. Its cask maturation includes ex-bourbon casks and five years in Grand Cru Bordeaux NEOC Casks, followed by a finish in ex-peated casks. This finish accounts for the delicate smoky nuance, which complements the honeyed, fruity and spicy character without overpowering it.

The whiskey has a natural colour, is non-chill-filtered and is bottled at 46% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, cherries mingle with honey and spicy notes.
• Palate: The whiskey is full-bodied and honey-sweet on the palate, accompanied by fruit and a very light smoky note.
• Finish: The finish is long, with lingering fruity and spicy impressions.

Distillery/Bottler:

Lakeview is produced by O’Connell Heritage Limited, which operates as Wayward Irish Spirits at Lakeview Estate. The family business is based in Fossa near Killarney, on the shores of Lough Leane, where it continues a family history spanning approximately 900 years. Maurice O’Connell leads the whiskey project as a bonder.

Lakeview uses barley grown on the estate, and the whiskey also matures there, close to the fields. Wayward Irish Spirits works in small batches and gradually reduces the whiskey to bottling strength over several weeks. Estate-grown barley, local warehousing, and maturation and bottling on the estate form the core of the single-estate concept.
