Special Features:

Jamaican rum and natural fruit flavourings form the basis of Langs Pineapple. The blend combines molasses-based spirits distilled in pot and column stills. Its rum base includes spirits matured in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. The finished spirit is bottled in Scotland, bringing pronounced pineapple notes together with sweet and spicy accents.

The Pineapple variant joined the relaunched Langs range in December 2020. It comes at 37.5% alcohol in a bottle containing 0.7 litres. Alongside serving it neat or over ice, it can be enjoyed in a long drink with cranberry juice and freshly squeezed lime juice.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, juicy pineapple and coconut meet vanilla and molasses. An impression of rum and raisin ice cream complements the earthy sweetness and gentle spice.
• Palate: The pineapple is lively and zesty on the palate. Rum notes, rich caramel, cinnamon and oak accompany the fruit, while lime adds a citrus accent.
• Finish: The mellow, long finish leaves lingering fruit notes and spicy oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Langs traces its roots to Glasgow wine and spirits merchants Gavin and Alexander Lang. In the 1860s, they expanded their business from Scotch whisky into rum. Caribbean fruits and other exotic goods arriving at the docks on the Clyde provided inspiration. Their banana rum was introduced in 1861; today's Pineapple variant continues this connection between rum and fruit flavours.

Ian Macleod Distillers revived the brand in 2020, initially with a banana rum, before adding Pineapple and Mango and Ginger. For Langs, Jamaican rum is imported, blended and enhanced with natural fruit flavourings. Jamaican distillation and Scottish processing thus shape different stages of production.
