Laphroaig 10 Sherry Oak Finish first matures in ex-bourbon casks. For its final maturation, the distillery selects European oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry. Their sweet and spicy influence complements the ten-year-old Islay single malt’s powerful peat smoke, while its maritime character remains pronounced. This distillery bottling is bottled at 48% ABV, is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, manuka honey, cloves and leather mingle with peat smoke, iodine and smoked bacon.
• Palate: The whisky is sweet and waxy on the palate. Toffee, maple syrup and dark chocolate meet pine needles and cedarwood.
• Finish: On the long finish, sweetness and smouldering peat smoke persist, leaving nuts and a delicate salty note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Donald and Alexander Johnston founded Laphroaig on Islay’s south coast in 1815. The distillery draws its water from the Kilbride Stream. Laphroaig still malts some of its barley on its own malting floors and dries the malt over Islay peat smoke. For this bottling, the distillery hand-selects the casks for the Oloroso finish. The whisky matures in those casks before Laphroaig bottles it itself. The distillery is now part of Suntory Global Spirits.
