Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 57.1% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
Twelve years of maturation in first- and second-fill Oloroso sherry butts combine Linkwood’s elegant, floral Speyside character with a pronounced sherry influence. Distilled in 2012, the single malt was bottled by Signatory Vintage in 2025 as 100 Proof Edition #68 at 57.1%. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.
Floral rose notes, peach and cherry sit alongside raisins, dates and other dried fruits. Orange peel, chocolate and caramel complement the fruit, while malty accents, baking spices and oak give the full-bodied whisky structure.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: On the nose, floral rose notes, ripe peach and juicy cherries mingle with raisins, honeyed malt, chocolate and orange peel. Warm Oloroso spices and a hint of toasted oak complete the bouquet.
- Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and expressive on the palate. Dark cherries, creamy caramel, dates and raisins meet dark chocolate, spicy malt, gentle oak sweetness and soft notes of pome fruit.
- Finish: The finish remains long and warming, with lingering sherry sweetness, baking spices and oak.
Distillery/Bottler:
Founded by Peter Brown in 1821, Linkwood Distillery is located in Speyside and operates six stills. A large proportion of its production goes into blended Scotch, making standalone Linkwood bottlings comparatively rare. The distillery character is elegant, fruity and floral.
Signatory Vintage is the independent bottler behind this edition. The company acquires whisky casks from distilleries, makes its own cask selections and bottles the whisky under its own brand at various strengths. Independent bottlings often forgo chill filtration and added colouring. For Edition #68, Signatory Vintage combined first- and second-fill Oloroso sherry butts and bottled the twelve-year-old Linkwood at 57.1%.
Andrew Symington founded Signatory Vintage with his brother in 1988. His interest in individual whisky casks had developed while working at the Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh. After acquiring Edradour distillery in 2002, he relocated the entire operation to its site in Pitlochry by 2007. Additional warehouses with space for more than 20,000 casks were later built there.
