Special features: Lochlea is a young, independent farm distillery in the Scottish Lowlands that uses exclusively its own-grown barley. Maturation takes place on-site in a carefully balanced combination of first-fill bourbon barrels, Oloroso sherry butts, and STR barriques – special wine casks that have been scraped, toasted, and recharred. This sophisticated cask recipe, perfected by former Laphroaig manager John Campbell, shapes the signature style of the permanently available core release "Our Barley."

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Strong aromas of pear syrup and fruit candies, accompanied by spicy notes of tangy jam and cinnamon.
• Palate: Typical of Lochlea are fresh fruit and cereal notes, carried by a rich, light syrup.
• Finish: A long-lasting finish with macadamia nuts, hints of cream soda and vanilla, and a distinctive note of orange beeswax.

Distillery/Bottler: The Lochlea Distillery was founded as a family-run farm distillery and is committed to full traceability – from its own field to the bottle. Under the direction of John Campbell, formerly Master Blender at Laphroaig, it combines traditional production methods with modern innovations. The focus is on producing an honest, transparent single malt that reflects the character of the Lowlands and its own barley.
