Special Features:

This single-cask release in the Connoisseurs Choice Cask Strength range comes from a refill bourbon barrel. Distilled in 2009, the Macduff matured in it for 14 years before Gordon & MacPhail bottled the whisky from cask 11904 on 31 January 2024 at 58.1%. The release comprises 209 bottles.

The whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, vanilla pod and milk chocolate mingle with green apple. Lemon peel, sweet apricot and passion fruit follow.
• Palate: On the palate, ripe banana and a subtle raspberry note meet black pepper. Poached pear and fizzy sherbet give way to bitter grapefruit.
• Finish: The finish is medium in length, with lingering citrus notes and charred oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Macduff Distillery stands near Banff at the mouth of the River Deveron. It began production in 1960 and operates two wash stills, three spirit stills and horizontal condensers. This equipment is designed to produce a light, fruity spirit.

Gordon & MacPhail is an independent bottler based in Elgin with a history dating back to 1895. For its Connoisseurs Choice range, it selects spirits from different Scottish distilleries, matures them in its own casks and bottles them. The range originated with George Urquhart in the 1960s. Speymalt Whisky Distributors Limited is the company behind the Gordon & MacPhail name.
