Special Features:

Further maturation after blending shapes this blended malt: Batch 2 combines peated and unpeated single malts from Islay and Speyside, including GlenAllachie. The blend then matures further in sherry, red wine and virgin oak casks, allowing the whiskies to integrate and gain additional influences from the casks.

This ten-year-old whisky is bottled at its natural cask strength of 55.8%, without chill filtration or added colouring. Its colour recalls dark mahogany.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals grilled honeycomb, ginger and vanilla. Cinnamon, bonfire smoke and dark sugar syrup round out the aromas.
• Palate: Dark chocolate, scorched orange peel and honeycomb stand out on the palate. These are followed by smoky spices, butterscotch and roasted coffee beans.
• Finish: The long finish combines bittersweet herbs with red wine tannins, ginger and dark smoke.

Distillery/Bottler:

MacNair’s traces its roots to Harvey MacNair, who was active in the 19th century. Today, Master Blender Billy Walker shapes the brand’s spirits. Further cask maturation is central to his work, enabling him to develop the character of the selected spirits.

The brand belongs to The GlenAllachie Distillers Company. For Lum Reek, Walker selects each malt for its contribution to the blend: GlenAllachie’s honeyed sweetness meets Islay peat smoke and Speyside spice. The name Lum Reek draws on a Scottish toast expressing the wish that someone’s chimney may continue smoking for many years.
