Whiskies in the MacPhail's range mature in casks made to Gordon & MacPhail's specifications. In the 21-year-old MacPhail's, sweet sherry influence initially appears alongside tart citrus and delicate spice. Seville orange, stewed fruit and toasted nuts follow on the palate before fruit and charred oak define the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Gordon & MacPhail began in 1895 as a grocery business founded by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail in Elgin. The family-owned company developed into a specialist in single malt maturation and an independent bottler. For the MacPhail's range, it deliberately does not disclose the distillery of origin.

For its cask management, Gordon & MacPhail selects wood to suit each spirit. Its sherry casks are made and seasoned in Jerez according to the company's own specifications, while its ex-bourbon casks come from North America. After maturation, Gordon & MacPhail decides when a whisky is ready to be bottled under its own name.
