The liqueur is offered at 35% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle. It can be enjoyed neat at room temperature or used as an ingredient in cocktails.

Distillery/Bottler:

Bodegas de America S.A. in Panama is the company behind this rum liqueur. Marco Savio founded the Rum Malecon brand in 2000 after an extended period of working with rum specialists from Cuba, Guatemala and Panama. His introduction to rum came through the family business, which made liqueurs and imported coffee: trips to Central American coffee plantations also brought him into the world of rum.

Malecon makes its rum from sugarcane molasses, using slow fermentation in open vats with naturally occurring yeasts. The rums are produced in Panama following Cuban tradition and enter former bourbon casks at 75% alcohol for maturation. This approach shapes the brand’s rum portfolio.
