Martell XO combines powerful eaux-de-vie from Grande Champagne with the elegance of Borderies. The blend contains spirits matured for different periods, ranging from approximately 15 to 35 years. Its oldest components therefore reach around 35 years of age; this figure does not describe the age of the cognac as a whole.

Maturation in fine-grained French oak gives the blend structure without overshadowing the fruit. Spicy notes of pepper and coriander sit alongside fig, walnut, sandalwood and red fruits. The 0.7-litre bottle is offered at 40% in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, black and pink pepper and coriander meet rich aromas of fig, walnut and sandalwood.
• Palate: Fig, red fruits and currant buds stand out intensely on the palate. Caramel, cocoa, gentle spice and well-integrated oak complement the flavours, while the texture is supple.
• Finish: The exceptionally long, powerful finish reveals dried fruit and gentle spice notes. Cinnamon, violet and nutty notes accompany the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Jean Martell founded the house in Cognac in 1715. The cognac house has belonged to the Pernod-Ricard group since 2001.

Martell distils only clear wines without lees. Double distillation, together with the selection of fine-grained oak casks, forms the foundation of the house style. For its cognacs, the house blends eaux-de-vie of different origins and ages into an assemblage; XO is one of its official house bottlings.
