Micil Earls Island Single Pot Still Whiskey 0.7 l

Special Features: This single pot still whiskey from Galway pays homage to the region's long distilling tradition and the former wine merchants who shaped Galway. The whiskey consists of 75.5% triple-distilled pot still whiskey, which was aged in 225-liter ex-Bordeaux red wine casks. The remaining 24.5% matured in small 125-liter American oak quarter casks that had previously held peated whiskey. The careful cask selection and finishing lend this whiskey its distinctive fruitiness and spice.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Spicy nuances with notes of dark fruits, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla
  • Palate: Aromas of red apple, dark cherry, cinnamon, nutmeg, the typical pot still spice and rhubarb
  • Finish: Long-lasting with a successful balance of fruity and spicy tones

Distillery/Bottler: In 2016, Pádraic Ó'Griallas opened the Micil Distillery in Galway, the city's first distillery in a century. Inspired by his family's roots, which ran an illegal distillery in Connemara as early as the 19th century, Micil combines traditional know-how with modern craftsmanship. The first whiskeys were still made from purchased distillates, while in-house production began long ago. IrishWhiskeys is responsible for the distribution of the whiskeys in Switzerland.
