Dutch Tulip Collection No. 7 combines a heavily peated Dutch single malt with a full six-year maturation in two first-fill Sauternes wine hogsheads. Zuidam distilled it from heavily peated malted barley on 10 April 2020. The whisky from casks 200169 and 200170 was bottled on 6 May 2026.

The two casks yielded 587 bottles at a natural cask strength of 53.1%. The whisky is neither coloured nor chill-filtered. As the seventh release in the Dutch Tulip Collection, it bears a label featuring tulips and Delftware, designed in the spirit of the Dutch Old Masters.

The sweet fruit character of the Sauternes casks provides a counterpoint to the dense peat smoke. Apricot, honey, vanilla and buttery brown sugar meet cinnamon, orange zest and a subtle saline edge, while cold ash and earthy nuances define the long, dry finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, intense peat smoke with earthy depth opens the concentrated bouquet. Ripe apricots, aromatic honey, fine orange zest and subtle vanilla complement the smoke.
• Palate: On the palate, powerful smoke dominates the full-bodied profile. Honey, buttery brown sugar and vanilla lend sweetness and a silky texture, while a restrained saline note, citrus and spicy cinnamon provide contrast.
• Finish: The finish is long and dry, with cold ash and delicate salinity. Fruity hints and a lightly earthy nuance linger in the background.

Distillery/Bottler:

Zuidam Distillers produced this Millstone single malt and released it as an official bottling. Fred and Hélène van Zuidam founded the family business in 1976; today, their sons Patrick and Gilbert run the distillery as its second generation. The first experimental whisky casks were laid down in 1996. For Millstone, Zuidam employs a seven-day fermentation, slow distillation in copper pot stills and carefully selected maturation casks.

Facts:
