Ming River Baijiu
Special features: The Ming River Baijiu represents the rich tradition of Chinese spirit production. Made from locally harvested red sorghum, it is produced in the oldest continuously operating distillery in China, the Luzhou Laojiao Distillery. After two months of fermentation in earthen pits, the distillation takes place in traditional Chinese pot stills. The Baijiu then ages for up to two years, resulting in a complex and full-bodied flavor.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Aromas of green apple peel, followed by tropical fruits like papaya, guava, and melon, rounded off with a hint of ripe cheese.
- Palate: Spicy pink peppercorns, combined with pineapple, anise, and a salty note.
- Finish: Long-lasting, smooth, and slightly earthy.
Distillery/Bottler: The Luzhou Laojiao Distillery, founded in 1573, is the oldest continuously operating distillery in China. It is considered the cradle of Sichuan Baijiu and has used traditional methods to produce this unique beverage for over twenty generations.
